Finally I painted a full face wolf. I have wanted to do this for years and years but because I am so in awe of them and convinced I will fail dismally I have been putting it off.
I was recently asked to paint a wolf by a lady called Ashley. After I tried one it confirmed all my fears. It was awful, flat and hesitant. I tore it up and started again. This one progressed a little better. Then I left it for a day and summoned up the gump to go at it again.
This called for different techniques that I hadn’t used before ( a dlot of drybrush to create the fur edges) and saw it had hope. Then I became more confident and used stronger colours. It was coming alive! Fanning the flames more I really started cutting into it – defining areas with more punch until I felt I had a live animal in front of me. By the end I felt exhilarated as I came to the end. This wolf has inspired me to paint more and keep learning.
Hi Spiritartartist – thanks for the compliment on this wolf. I love spattering – I feel it adds another dimension to the art:) Alison
