How to paint a Christmas Wreath – Watercolour demo

If you are feeling Christmassy and want to paint a Christmas wreath then please have a go at this demo.

It includes the old favourites of shiny and spiky holly leaves interwoven with the stark simplicity of mistletoe and punctuated with the star of the show – poinsettia.

119I used Arches hot pressed 90lb watercolour paper – unstretched – I just painted right onto it. If you want to flatten it when the painting is finished just spray the back of it very finely with water – sandwich between two bigger pieces of watercolour paper and put under a tonne of books over night.

Here is the outline if you want to use this.

wreath 10 10Colours are Winsor & Newton:- Cadmium Red Deep, Hookers Green, Manganese Blue, Cadmium Yellow, Alizarin Crimson. Brushes are round size 3 and 6 and flat quarter inch.
